The McMaster University Wellness Week is designed to promote all domains of wellness in the three distributed campuses targeting the undergraduate and post graduate level students as well as the faculty and administration.
The World Health Organization defines 'wellness' as:
"...a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
Many studies have demonstrated the deleterious effects of stress on physicians' mental and physcial health, as well as on patient care. Medical school and residency are both stressful periods of physician training. Medical students and residents, like practicing physicians, are at risk of burnout and mental health issues. However, there are ways to reduce and manage stress, and to be healthy and resilients physicians.
We have gathered tools, resources, and opportunities for medical students, residents, physicians and supporting staff to promote and maintain their wellness in a variety of domains.
