McMaster/Ottawa TOSCE (Team Observed Structured Clinical Encounter) Toolkit
An Innovative Tool for Building and Assessing Interprofessional Competencies
The TOSCE tool was developed and validated for use as an assessment of interprofessional team competencies in primary care.
With funding support from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (HealthForceOntario grant), the McMaster-Ottawa team have created this TOSCE Tool Kit to enable interprofessional primary care teams to assess and improve their collaboration skills.
All materials needed for teams to either use the existing TOSCE stations or create their own practice-specific TOSCE are available through this website free of charge.
"Something happened that was important, we got so that we knew what we were doing and...we heard each other and we knew better what each other was going to bring to the table and that was important...this is more important than just an exercise."
