Goals & Objectives

The McMaster Family Health Team Inter-professional Mentorship and Evaluation Program (MIME) was created to support the integration of new inter-professional team members during the transition to the new McMaster academic Family Health Team. MIME's goals were to increase FHT members' satisfaction with their professional and working environment and to increase awareness and understanding of the different professional roles within the FHT, their boundaries, scope and interactions.

For this project, diverse interdisciplinary pairs of FHT staff were encouraged to intentionally converse about practice-related issues at mutually arranged times within the project timeframe. Both partners were open to exploration, different questions, creative discussions, new solutions and also considered how reflection could be used in their daily work.

Updates

The project is in the wrap-up stages, with all participant involvement complete. The project team is currently analysing data obtained during the program and preparing a final report and MIME toolkit which will explain how other organisations could implement and benefit from the program. The report and toolkit will be distributed to health professional colleges, IPE departments and Ontario Family Health Teams and Community Health Centres.
