Division of Respirology

About Respirology

The Division of Respirology was established in October 2014. The division provides a comprehensive patient centered tertiary pediatric respiratory care to a catchment area of 2.4 million, at McMaster Children's Hospital.

The division provides respirology clinics for children with asthma, acute and chronic lung diseases, airway abnormalities, aerodigestive problems, rare lung conditions, congenital/acquired lung diseases and neuromuscular related lung disease.

The division also provides multidisciplinary cystic fibrosis follow up and newborn screening clinics. Pediatric sleep service is provided in collaboration with tertiary sleep services at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Diagnostic service of the division includes outpatient and inpatient bronchoscopy service on children as young as neonates. The division has access to a full range of pulmonary function tests, airway challenge test, cardiopulmonary exercise test, comprehensive radiological diagnostic services, echocardiography services, microbiology and pathology services.

The division is affiliated with the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health at St. Joseph's Hospital. It has an interest in translational and clinical research in respirology and cystic fibrosis. The division provides undergraduate and post-graduate respirology rotations.

What's New

Monthly Meetings

Respirology/Radiology Meeting
This meeting takes place from 8-9am in the Radiology Office on the first Friday of the month.

Respirology/Pathology Meeting
During these meetings case discussion will take place based on recent patients. All trainees affiliated with the Division are expected to attend.

  • Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Multi-team/Respirology
