Health Research Workshop for Pediatric Postgraduate Clinicians

This 1.5 day workshop was conducted by Dr. Helene Flageole and the McMaster Pediatric Surgery Research Collaborative to provide clinical health research training to pediatric fellows at McMaster University. This workshop provided fellows with high-quality epidemiological training including a focus on applied skills needed in academic medicine.

The workshop included sessions on the following topics:

  • Basic evidence-based medicine (EBM) principles including literature searching, critical appraisal, and study design
  • Logistical concerns of designing and conducting pediatric research
  • Multicentre databases and opportunities for research on secondary data analysis
  • Grant writing and knowledge dissemination strategies
