Welcome to Ontario's Midwifery Education Program and our McMaster University Program site!
This collaborative program is a unique venture shared by McMaster University, Ryerson University and Laurentian University. The Ontario Midwifery Education Program is the oldest Midwifery Program in Canada and first enrolled students in 1993. Our graduates are working as midwives primarily in Ontario, but also in other parts of the country where midwifery is legally recognized.
Our McMaster University site offers students the opportunity to undertake midwifery education along side students from across Ontario and other parts of Canada. Our students bring a wide range of backgrounds and experience. The program provides solid academic background and understanding of the principles of midwifery care as well as the opportunity to integrate this learning in the clinical setting, providing the basis for excellence in clinical practice. Our faculty is comprised of midwifery professors and additional faculty who are experts in the social, health or biological sciences. On behalf of the students and faculty, I welcome your interest and your further inquiries about this profession and its rewards.
