Educational and professional standing

Dr. Maria Ines Pinto-Sanchez obtained her MD certification at the University of Cordoba, Argentina in 2002, and completed her Gastroenterology training in 2008 at Dr. C. B. Udaondo Gastroenterology Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She joined the Farncombe Institute in 2010 as clinical research fellow and obtained a Master in Science degree from the Health Research and Methodology program in 2014. She was clinical gastroenterology and nutrition fellow at McMaster from 2015 to 2017, during which time she contributed to the establishment of the first specialized Celiac Clinic for adult patients in Canada, led Dr. P. Dr. Pinto-Sanchez is currently an active medical staff at the Gastroenterology Division at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences where she provides consultation services in the area of gastroenterology and nutrition.  Her clinical and research interest include the diagnosis and treatment of celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gluten sensitivity and disorders of the microbiota gut-brain axis. She is a member of the Research Committee of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, Treasurer of the North American Society of the Study of Celiac Disease and has received many early career awards.
