Two Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine students are the inaugural McMaster University recipients of a new awards program of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).

Tahsin Khan, a third-year medical student from Brampton, was awarded the CMA 150th Anniversary Award valued at $15,000. Qian Shi, a second-year student who hails from Richmond Hill, was selected for a CMA 150th Anniversary Bursary of $8,500.

The bursaries and awards program was established as part of the CMA's 150th anniversary last year.  The five-year program will benefit students from Canada's 17 medical schools.
