A memorial service is being held Saturday, Nov. 26, for Dr. Robert Chu, a 2015 graduate of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine of McMaster University.
Chu, 25, died suddenly on Sept. 5 in Hamilton.

Students, staff, faculty members, family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service being held at the medical school's Niagara Regional Campus in the Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex at the Brock University campus at 1812 Sir Isaac Brock Way, St. Catharines. Chu received his medical training at the Niagara campus.
The service will begin at 2 p.m.

Chu was in the process of completing his MBA in finance at McMaster's DeGroote School of Business. He had also achieved an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with high distinction from the University of Toronto earlier this year. Robert was active within the community including volunteering at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, and he was an advocate for mental health services in the region.

"Those of us who knew Robert will remember his many wonderful traits including his hard work ethic, his diversity of interests, his gentle manner and his genuine concern for each and every person he encountered," said Karl Stobbe, regional assistant dean of the medical school's Niagara Regional Campus.

Anyone interested in attending the memorial service to honour Robert and share memories, should notify Erica Walters at ewalter@mcmaster.ca by Monday, Nov. 21.
For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed through McMaster's MD program website.
