The School of Nursing has raised more than $2,000 for initiatives that will benefit McMaster and the local community.

In October 2006, a representative group from the School of Nursing established the Spirit of Nursing Fund to respond to the needs of the Hamilton community not only during the holidays but throughout the year.

The School's inaugural effort in 2006 was so successful that this year, the faculty and staff decided that instead of giving Christmas gifts to one another, they would make a donation to the Spirit of Nursing Fund.

The $2,013-donation will be split between the Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodation and support to families of children undergoing care at the McMaster Children's Hospital, and to the McMaster University Chaplaincy Centre to support the student community.

This grassroots initiative is reflective of the School's commitment to positively influence the health and well-being of the University and the local community.
