In early 2013, a Brain Canada — Multi-Investigator Research Initiative (MIRI) call for research proposals in the area of neurodevelopmental disorders, with a special focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Fragile X syndrome was advertised. A joint venture between the The Azrieli Foundation and Brain Canada received letters of intent followed by full proposals. The ultimate goal of the Brain Canada funded projects is to develop new diagnostics, treatment and prevention strategies for neurodevelopmental disorders.
The Azrieli Neurodevelopmental Research Program supports excellent systems and translational research in the area of neurodevelopmental disorders, with a special focus on ASD and Fragile X syndrome. Phase 1 of this program was launched December 20, 2012.
