It’s up to you. What would you have wanted to know when you first started med school? Share stories and memories, give advice, or just wish them luck.Brag! You’ve earned it! The students love to hear what you have been doing.
Most authors write 3 to 4 paragraphs. Some notes are longer while others are a few simple lines. Don't feel obligated to write a long note or feel confined by just a few paragraphs.
You can do whatever you prefer. If you want to handwrite the note, click here and fill in the field that indicates you would like us to send you some note paper. Please also feel free to use your own stationary. Do what feels the most comfortable to you.
All notes for use at the 2018 White Coat Ceremony must be received before October 1, 2018. Notes that are received after October 1 may be set aside for use at the 2019 ceremony.
We cannot make any guarantees but we will try our best to accomodate the wishes of our alumni.
Due to student confidentiality and because the notes are randomly assigned we cannot give any of our white coat note writers contact information for the students receiving their note. Many of our past participants have included their own contact information in the letter and encouraged the student to contact them directly.
We have included samples of previous notes on the photo gallary page.
Please sign your name and write your graduating year. If you signature is illegible please print your name. This little bit of information makes it much more personal.
Many of the previous writers attached a business card. This is by no means a requirement but appreciated by the students. Please let them know if you are willing to have them contact you.
Unfortunately we cannot accept notes from anonymous sources. We need to be able to verify that the notes are from McMaster School of Medicine alumni.
