Welcome to the Department of Surgery at McMaster University. Our large faculty contributes extensively to the Department's ability to provide specialty care for Hamilton and the surrounding communities through St. Joseph's Healthcare and the Hamilton Health Sciences.

Report from the Chair
This year has been a year of accelerated expansion, growth and redevelopment in the Department of Surgery.
Since the appointment of Dr. Susan Reid as the inaugural Associate Chair, Education, many initiatives have been put in place by our faculty as outlined in the Education webpage, including the new STEP program (Surgical Teaching Education Program) the international surgery desk headed by Dr. Brian Cameron, the surgeon scientist program headed by Dr. Sheila Singh and the Women in Surgery program led by Dr. Victoria Avram.
