Who We Are
The Systems of Prevention and Care (SP&C), based out of McMaster University, is led by Dr. Gina Browne and is a program/theme that is one of three areas of research under the Applied Health Research Network Initiative (AHRNI) hub, System Integration and Innovation Research Network (SIIReN).
The SP&C research team is a group of investigators and community partners dedicated to helping health and social service agencies create new solutions for problems affecting vulnerable children, youth, adults, and seniors. The community partners include health and social service agencies, youth recreational engagement organizations, community neighbourhood hubs and schools, and children's services including mental health organizations.
The SP&C program will develop and implement research initiatives on integrated and innovative care and ecological analyses of interventions for problems affecting all levels of children and youth, their families, schools, and local neighbourhoods.
Systems of Prevention & Care program has a vision and the belief that... "It takes the children to raise the village."
Foster neighbourhoods and schools as places for children, youth and their families to thrive.
- Reach their full potential.
- Support the continuation of the Youth Engagement & Action in Hamilton (YEAH) collaborative.
- Feel a sense of belonging and have voice in helping each other as an early intervention in:
- schools to be a cascade of youth helping children and youth;
- local businesses.
