24th Annual Research Day, May 23, 2012
"Psychiatry at McMaster: A Pathway to Innovative Research on Mind, Body and Environment”
It is our pleasure to share with you the agenda for our upcoming 24th Annual Research Day, to be held on May the 23rd, 2012 at the Hamilton Convention Centre.
This year’s event has the overarching theme of “Psychiatry at Mac: A Pathway to Innovative Research on Mind, Body and Environment” and will gather a unique group of speakers (clinicians, scientists and researchers) from McMaster University, McGill University and University of Toronto. In addition to presentations on cutting-edge research on some of the key biologic and environmental factors modulating the risk and treatment of psychiatric illnesses, we are innovating the format for this year’s event to incorporate a debate on “sex, hormones and the environment on the brain” – i.e., how sex differences influence mental illness, healthcare and the corporate world - and a colloquium on “how and why people get involved in research” – the latter including short testimonials from patient’s advocacy representatives, clinicians and researchers at different points in their careers.
As always, a major highlight of the Research Day is the poster session, which offers the opportunity not only to meet and catch up with our colleagues across the Department but also – and most importantly - to have a glance at the quality and scope of our productivity and the vibrant research environment that continues to be carefully carried on by our faculty members, mentors, students and residents.
Please submit your poster abstracts by April 2nd as per the instructions below under "Call for Abstracts". Several awards (including a novel one, for best original research proposal) will be announced at the end of the Research Day.
We encourage everyone to register for the event as soon as possible and join us on the 23rd of May.
Best regards,
