Dr. Breakey received her medical degree from the University of Calgary Medical School in Calgary, Alberta. She completed her Pediatric Residency training and Fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Breakey pursued her Master of Education degree at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. In 2011, she joined the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University as a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist.
Dr. Breakey provides clinical care to children with cancer and blood disorders. She is an enthusiastic teacher for patients, parents, medical students, residents and fellows. She is also active in medical education as the Education Research Person for Hematology/Oncology and as the
Pediatric Clerkship Director. Her current research interests include clinical studies for children with immune thrombocytopenia and the development of online self-management programs for teens with hemophilia to prepare them for transition to adulthood.
