Dr. Sumesh Thomas is an Associate Professor in Neonatology within the Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics. He is also the medical director of the NICU at McMaster Children's Hospital.
Dr. Thomas graduated in 1990 and completed postgraduate training in Pediatrics and Neonatology from the UK in 2003 after neonatal fellowship training at the University of Toronto in 2000. He was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer and Consultant Neonatologist with the University of Aberdeen in 2003. In 2004, he was elected to Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Paediatrics & Child Health and Physicians of Edinburgh U.K in recognition of his contribution to Education and Training. He joined McMaster University in 2009.
His main areas of interests are in medical education, neonatal transport medicine, respiratory care and functional ECHO in assessing cardio respiratory status in sick neonates.
