Dr. Tanya Solano is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics within the Division of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Solano grew up in Costa Rica and obtained her medical degree and pediatric training at the University of Costa Rica in San José. She practised at the National Women’s Hospital in the Department of Obstetrics and was an attending physician in the Emergency Department of the National Children’s Hospital in San José.
In 2009, she came to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children for a two-year Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She pursued advanced training in her subspecialty and in 2012 became a Senior Fellow in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and PEM Bedside Ultrasound at Sick Kids. The program provided selected fellows with advanced training in core emergency ultrasound applications.
Dr. Solano has an interest in medical education and participated extensively in several University of Toronto teaching programs including teaching and training experience with high fidelity simulators in the Simulation Centre.
