Rejane F. Dillenburg, MD, MSc, FRCPC
Dr. Rejane Dillenburg earned her medical degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where she also completed her Residency in Pediatrics at the Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre. Subsequently, she completed Pediatric Cardiology Residency training at the Instituto de Cardiologia do RGS in Porto Alegre. She obtained a Master of Sciences Degree in Cardiology. She continued her clinical training in Pediatric Cardiology/Electrophysiology at The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto and in Adult Electrophysiology in Halifax, Dalhousie University.
Dr. Dillenburg was invited to join the Pediatric Cardiology Service at McMaster University in July 2002, and was cross-appointed to The Hospital for Sick Children in 2003. She has contributed to maintaining a solid cardiology programme in a tertiary care centre, facilitating timely care for cardiac patients from fetal to teenage years. As a general pediatric cardiologist, she has contributed to the education of medical students and training of pediatric residents.
Dr Dillenburg was a co-founder of the Parent Awareness Group for Kawasaki Disease, the first of its kind in Canada. She participates on the ongoing provincial epidemiological surveillance on Kawasaki Disease. She is a member and active participant of the Canadian Congestive Heart Failure Study Group since 2008. Her main research interests involve congestive heart failure in children, myocardial function and exercise physiology.
