In 2006, Dr. Rajesh RamachandranNair joined the Division of Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University. He is also a staff pediatric neurologist and epileptologist at McMaster Children's Hospital. He joined McMaster University after completing a clinical fellowship program in Pediatric Epilepsy at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
Dr. RamachandranNair is certified in both Pediatrics and Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and received EEG certification by the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists. He received his MBBS and MD (Pediatrics) at the University of Kerala, before completing the Neurology training. He achieved University First Rank with five gold medals in the MBBS examination.
Dr. RamachandranNair's clinical interests are the identification and treatment of pediatric epilepsy syndromes, neurogenetic and neurometablic causes of childhood epilepsy, evolution of epilepsy after first seizure and electroencephalography and video EEG.
His research interests are in the areas of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), Encephalopathy associated with electrical status epilepticus of sleep (ESES), and ketogenic diet.
He is the medical director of the comprehensive pediatric epilepsy program that includes the Epilepsy Clinic and the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
