Max Chernesky

Dr. Chernesky is currently Professor of Pediatrics, Pathology and Molecular Medicine. His research career is extensive, with 133 peer-reviewed articles since 1970, and grants-in-aid totalling $250,000.00. He has served as Chair of the World Health Organization Global Program for AIDS Steering Committee (Diagnostics Initiative), Geneva, Switzerland (1994-2000); President of the Canadian College of Microbiologists (1989-91), Canadian Society of Microbiologists (1983-84), and Pan-American Group for Rapid Viral Diagnosis (1977-88).
His major research contributions are in sexually transmitted diseases and the development and evaluation of rapid laboratory diagnostic techniques in infectious diseases. He serves as a clinical virology consultant at the local, provincial, national and international levels.
