Dr. Lieberman was born in Toronto and educated at the University of Toronto. She completed both her pediatric training and fellowship in pediatric hematology at the Hospital of Sick Children. Following her training, she completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology. She joined the Hamilton team as an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics in January 2007.
