Dr. Kozenko received her medical degree from the National Medical University in Kiev, Ukraine, specializing in pediatrics with a focus on hematology/oncology. She worked as a pediatrician in Ukraine for several years before moving to Canada.
Upon her arrival in Canada, Dr. Kozenko worked as a clinical trainee in the Biochemical Disease Division at BC Children's Hospital. It was during this time that she developed an interest in metabolic diseases. She recently completed the Medical Genetics Residency Program at the University of Manitoba.
Dr. Kozenko has a special interest in metabolic genetics, as well as prenatal, general genetics and newborn screening. She recently completed research focusing on an innovative oral treatment for pediatric patients with Type 3 Gaucher disease.
