Alexandra Hernandez

Alexandra HernandezDr. Alexandra Hernandez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University.

Dr. Hernandez received her medical degree at the School of Medicine Juan N Corpas, in Bogota, Colombia, in December 1994. A trained pediatrician, Dr. Hernandez spent seven years working simultaneously in the emergency department and pediatric hospital wards in Bogota, Colombia. She recently completed her clinical fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine and general pediatrics at The Hospital for Sick Children.

During her time at Sick Kids, Dr. Hernandez was involved in a nationwide chart review study under the leadership of Dr. Suzanne Schuh. The study investigated the variation of pharmacotherapy in children and acute asthma in pediatric emergency departments across Canada. In addition to her research and clinical experience, Dr. Hernandez has been an active and outstanding workshop leader in multiple courses, including APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support) and PEM at Sick Kids, as well as numerous CME seminars.
