Tony D'Souza
Dr. Sudhir (Tony) D'Souza is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University.
He obtained his MD from McGill University and his PhD from the University of Alberta. He recently obtained a Master's of Health Science Administration from the University of Toronto. After his pediatric training in Vanderbilt University, he was recruited to the Hospital for Sick Children for his fellowship, and subsequently to a faculty position in the Children's Hospital and University of Western Ontario. Since then, he has worked in a number of secondary and tertiary care settings, including The Hospital for Sick Children.
Dr. D'Souza is a former Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) New Investigator, Kidney Foundation of Canada Biomedical Faculty Scholar, and a Fellow of the Medical Research Council of Canada. He has published in international peer-reviewed journals, including Developmental Cell, Journal of Biochemistry and Journal of Pediatrics.
Dr. D'Souza's current research interests are in health policy, optimizing the delivery of health care, and physician engagement. He has worked for the Ontario e-Health Strategy and North York General Hospital on Physician IT and physician engagement strategies. He continues to do work collaboratively on epithelial cell polarity and protein engines, for which he is funded (with Dr. Lina Dagnino) by the CIHR. The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Kidney Foundation of Canada (KFC) and Health and Welfare Canada have also supported his research.
He currently sits on the CIHR Post-doctoral Fellowship Panel and the Provincial Child and Youth Advisory Council. He was an inaugural member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Nephrology, and an ad hoc reviewer for multiple journals.
