Pediatric Emergency Medicine Research Oversight Committee

The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Hamilton Health Sciences supports clinical research by conducting its own studies and collaborating with other researchers outside of the emergency department. Our goal is to do so in a way that optimizes patient care with maximum efficiency of resource utilization.

To coordinate and support clinical research in the ED of McMaster Children’s Hospital the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Research Oversight Committee (PEMROC) will review all proposed research projects prior to submission to the Research Ethics Board (REB) and implementation in the McMaster Children’s Hospital’s ED. The committee will review the impact on patient care, the demands on ED staff, the potential conflict with ongoing studies, and the involvement of McMaster University Emergency Medicine faculty members as investigators. We aim to provide feedback within two weeks.
