Welcome Message from Program Director

Welcome to the website for the Division of Pediatric General Surgery Program.
McMaster offers a 2 year residency in pediatric general surgery. Although only recently accredited by the Royal College in the fall of 2008, 10 fellows from overseas have been trained prior to that date.
Trainees learn under the supervision of 5 faculty members: Drs P. Fitzgerald, M. Walton, B. Cameron, K. Bailey and H. Flageole.
McMaster Children’s Hospital provides surgical care to a population base of approximately 2.4 million people in southern Ontario. We are the sole tertiary pediatric center and also the Level 1 Trauma Center in the area. Moreover, we have second largest and most modern Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Canada.
The Division of Pediatric General Surgery at McMaster Children's Hospital is committed to quality patient care, education and research. We are fortunate to take care of a broad range of pediatric surgical conditions and we collaborate closely with McMaster University to innovate in the area of evidence-based medicine.
