A) Medical Students

Spring Session

Since the IPC placement program was mandatory for medical students, they were required to complete a reflection and program evaluation form.  Students were provided with written feedback on their reflections by a graduate student and were also asked to partake in one on one interviews. 

Fall Session

Due to time constraints in the Fall session, students were only asked to complete a second program evaluation and participate in some phone interviews.

B) Nursing Students

Fall session

The IPC home care fall placement program was not mandatory for nursing students. 

Nursing students were asked to complete the same evaluations as the Medical students completed in the Spring. Every time a student completed the research evaluation tools, they were given a $15 Tim Hortons or Starbucks gift card.  Nursing students were also given the opportunity to participate in one on one interviews where they could share their placement experiences.

C) Clinicians

Spring and Fall Sessions

During the training workshop, clinicians were asked to sign a consent form and complete an information sheet.  Clinicians participating in the program were asked to complete an evaluation on each student, both during the Spring and Fall session, based on 4 dimensions: respectful listening; accountability; balancing inquiry and advocacy and taking experiential education seriously.

Clinicians were also required to complete a program evaluation after each phase of the project.  They were also asked to participate in a focus group in the Spring and once again in the Fall.
