McMaster University has long been internationally known for
its problem-based learning approach in health science education.
Sheridan College has a strong international reputation for
excellence in digital visualization and design. The City of
Hamilton, Community Support Services Department, Public Health
Research Education and Development Program has been a leader
in the development of educational initiatives to support learning
about public health practice issues.
With financial support from HRDC, Office of Learning Technologies,
faculty and staff from the three institutions developed
a digital case related to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
(FASD) as well as created various learning objects to support
the problem based learning case. The researchers studied
perceptions and experiences of health sciences students
who collaborated in an online PBL class over 6 weeks to
learn about FASD. We hope that this web site will provide
a basic overview of our project. |
