Course Requirements
In line with its mandate to provide training in health services and policy research to its graduate students, learning opportunities through the centre include a wide range of courses at the participating universities, with content related to the OTC set of competencies in health services and policy research.
Based on the individual Learning Plan, and depending on availability, required courses may be taken at the home base university (onsite or online) or at any of the participating universities (onsite or online) through the Ontario Visiting Graduate Student program (OVGS).
The minimum requirement is 1.5 Full Course Equivalents (FCE) above and beyond the requirements of the parent graduate degree.
For information on courses offered at the various universities according to modality (On-Site, On-Line) please consult the links on the left side bar.
When interested in registering in a course that is offered by any of the OTC universities other than the student’s own, registration must be done well in advance through the Ontario Visiting Graduate Student program (OVGS) process. It typically involves:
- Contacting the course instructor to get permission to register in the course.
- Filling out an OVGS form through the student’s corresponding School or Faculty of Graduate Studies. [The form is then sent from the local School of Graduate Studies to the School of Graduate Studies of the university offering the course].
- Following up (within a reasonable period of time) with the instructor and/or the Registrar’s office of the school offering the course to ensure that application has been received.
- Obtaining the necessary materials and information from the instructor or the Registrar’s (or ID and passwords to access the materials).
