OCRiT 3rd Annual Conference
This year, OCRiT's 3rd Annual Conference will take place at the Sheraton Centre Hotel, Toronto, Ontario on Friday November 16th.
OCRiT 2nd Annual Conference
On October 6th, 2011, the 2nd annual OCRiT conference was held in Kitchener/ Waterloo, Ontario (one of the four project sites). The event was hosted at the Tannery,
one of Kitchener’s largest historical buildings, built over 100 years ago. In addition to OCRiT co-Principal Investigators,trainees and project management committee, members of the broader
university science community and CCRM also attended the event.
The day began with a talk entitled, "Highcontent Screening In Physiologically Relevant Contexts: Co-cultured Cells" delivered by keynote speaker Dr. Anne Carpenter (Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT in
Cambridge, MA). The agenda for the day included project update talks from several Consortium members, a talk from Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM) CEO Dr. Michael May, trainee
presentations and a poster competition.
The project’s co-Principal Investigators took advantage of the time together to meet and discuss progress and strategy. The day ended with closing remarks and a poster awards ceremony announcing
the winning posters: Sylvie Rival-Gervier from the Hospital for Sick Children and Sarah Laronde and Zoya Shapovalova from McMaster University.
OCRiT Kick Start Symposium
On Friday, November 26th the McMaster Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute hosted the OCRiT Kick Start Symposium. The Symposium included presentations from OCRiT Researchers, a tour of the McMaster facilities and was a platform for discussion amongst the scientific collaborators.
