MPSRC Staff Changes

Welcome to Tessa Elliott

We would like to welcome Tessa Elliott to the MPSRC, who will be taking over the position of research assistant for pediatric surgery. Tessa graduated from Western University with her Bachelor of Health Sciences and is currently completing her Master's of Science at Queen's University. She is a welcome addition to our team!


Accepted Presentations at 2016 CAPS Annual Meeting

Three presentations from members of the MPSRC have been accepted at the upcoming 2016 Canadian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (CAPS) Annual Meeting, including one podium presentation. The full 2016 CAPS Annual Meeting program will be available later this summer.


2016 TAC Annual Meeting

Recently, two members of the MPSRC attended the 2016 Trauma Association of Canada (TAC) Annual Meeting on May 6-7, 2016. Congratulations to Adriana Dekirmendjian for her oral presentation on "A retrospective examination of current clinical treatment of pediatric blunt spleen and liver injuries at a single tertiary care centre."

Student Internship

The MPSRC 2016 Student Internship applications are now closed. Thank you to all the interested applicants who have applied this year!

The MPSRC 2017 Student Internship applications will be posted next Spring 2017. Please check the MPSRC website regularly for further updates.


MPSRC Annual Intern Presentation Night

The MPSRC’s third annual intern presentation night was a resounding success! All seven interns presented on their current research activities in the program, and gained valuable experience regarding the presentation of research to expert knowledge users. Thank you to all of the volunteers, nurse practitioners, information specialists and MPSRC members who attended the event. A special congratulations to Marissa Lu, who won the “Best Presentation” prize.

2015 CAPS Annual Meeting

The MPSRC had fantastic success at the 2015 Canadian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (CAPS) Annual Meeting that took place on September 17-19, 2015. Two presentations (listed below) were given by members of the MPSRC. As well, congratulations are in order for Dr. Mike Livingston, who won Best Podium Presentation for “Are some children with empyema at risk for treatment failure with fibrinolytics? A multicenter cohort study.” Thank you everyone for making this 2015 CAPS Annual Meeting a great success!

2015 McMaster International ROP Conference

The 2015 McMaster International ROP Conference was held on September 25th and 26th in Toronto in anticipation of the development of national ROP guidelines. This conference attracted international experts on ROP from 4 different continents. Dr. Kourosh Sabri, the conference chair, would like to thank all who presented and attended the conference, making it a great success!
