Biography

Karen Moffat BEd, MSc, ART, FCSMLS(D), is the Technical Specialist, Coagulation for the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP), and holds a part time Faculty appointment as Assistant Professor with the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Thromboembolism, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Karen received her national general certification in Medical Laboratory Science (MLT) in 1987, her Advanced Registered Technologist (ART) in Hematology in 1994 and was awarded the Coagulation Hemostasis Technologist Award of Excellence in 2007.  Karen obtained her BEd, specializing in Adult Education, in 2010 and received her MSc, Health Research Methodology, here at McMaster in 2013.

Karen has worked in the area of laboratory hemostasis and thrombosis for almost 30 years and has over 125 publications that include book chapters, peer-reviewed articles and scientific abstracts (as of 2015).  Karen is an invited speaker at provincial, national and international conferences on laboratory practices in hemostasis and thrombosis.
