Education and Professional Standing

Dr. Pai obtained her medical degree from McMaster University in 2003 and her Master’s degree in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University in 2012. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at McMaster University in 2006, and a residency in Adult Hematology at the University of Toronto in 2008.  Dr. Pai went on to complete a fellowship in Hemostasis and Thrombosis at McMaster University in 2012, also earning a Masters Certificate in Healthcare Management from York University's Schulich School of Business, and a Clinician Investigator Certificate from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.  Dr. Pai is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University, an Associate Member of the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, and Transfusion Medicine Quality Lead for the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program.  She is the Service Head of Hematology for the Hamilton General Hospital.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Pai cares for patients with a wide range of benign hematologic disorders  Her clinical interests focus on thrombotic and bleeding disorders. 

Research Interests

Dr. Pai is a member of McMaster University’s Thrombosis and Atherosclerosis Research Institute (TAARI), and the McMaster Centre for Transfusion Research (MCTR).  Her research interests include venous thromboembolism, hemophilia, research methods in rare diseases, clinical practice guideline development, knowledge translation, and implementation science.
