Education and Professional Standing

Dr. Waiswa is the Head of Hematology unit, Department of Medicine at Mulago hospital/Makerere University College of Health Sciences. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery of Mbarara University, a Masters degree in Internal Medicine of Makerere University and is a graduate of a Modified clinical hematology fellowship at McMaster University.

He is actively involved in bedside care for patients and teaching undergraduate and graduate students at Makerere University. He is also involved in scientific research including supervision of residents for their Masters theses. He is the current coordinator of the International Outreach program at Makerere University and continues to effectively and efficiently serve in this capacity.
