Education and Professional Standing

Before completing his MD at McMaster University in 1978, Dr Zawadowski received his education in the EU, the USA and in Canada. His postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology Research was at the University of Western Ontario.

Recently nominated and elected a Fellow to the European Society of Cardiology, he is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and of the American Heart Association.

Currently he is Physician Leader of Core Cardiology Services, an independent clinical facility in Oakville Ontario.  He is affiliated with Halton Healthcare Services, a member of the Executive Committee of the Ontario Association of Cardiologists, a member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, the Canadian Society of Echocardiography, the American Heart Association Clinical Cardiology Council and of the European Society of Cardiology.

He has served on boards and associations including the OMA Board of Directors Cardiology Section, the CMA Ethics Committee and continues to serve on the Executive Committee of the Ontario Association of Cardiologists.

Always a patient advocate, Dr. Zawadowski works tirelessly to bring progress and new treatments to bedside. He introduced Echocardiography and Doppler Cardiac Imaging and implemented modern day Thrombolysis for STEMI at the Oakville Hospital.  Long time director of the ICU at OTMH, he was the site Principal Investigator of many ACS research studies in Oakville during his 12 year tenure, including GUSTO, ASSENT, ESSENCE, and others.

Dr Zawadowski’s current principal interests are in the areas of professional and public education and cardio-prevention.
