James Forrest, a distinguished anesthesiologist and professor emeritus with the Faculty of Health Sciences, passed away this summer.
Forrest came to McMaster University in 1973 as an assistant professor and was named professor in 1979. He received the title of professor emeritus in 1999. Forrest also practiced clinically for more than 35 years.
Among his long list of accomplishments was serving two terms as chair of the Department of Anesthesia, leading one of the first large-scale epidemiological studies of anesthesia and working with psychiatrist Dr. Eldon Tunks to establish a multi-disciplinary pain clinic.
