Taniguchi wins palliative care award

Dr. Alan Taniguchi, assistant clinical professor of family medicine, has won the Eduardo Bruera Award in Palliative Medicine from the Canadian Society of Palliative Care Physicians.

The award is given annually to a physician demonstrating excellence in the field of palliative medicine as recognized by his or her peers. Taniguchi's passion for palliative care and his compassion for palliative patients has earned him the genuine respect and admiration of his peers, the honour read.

Taniguchi is program director of the Department of Family Medicine's Palliative Care Residency Program and the medical director at Shalom Village Long-Term Care Facility in Hamilton.
