Nancy Fowler

2015 Ian McWhinney Award

Nancy Fowler has received the 2015 Ian McWhinney Award from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). She is an associate professor of family medicine and '85 alumna of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. She received the national award for her innovation and impact as residency program director for a decade of expansion and curriculum development, as well as her involvement in medicine for refugees and the underserved.

Dorothy Bakker

2015 Regional Family Physician of the Year

The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) named Dorothy Bakker the 2015 Regional Family Physician of the Year for the region of Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant and Waterloo Wellington, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to family medicine. Bakker, an associate clinical professor and '90 alumna of McMaster's Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, is the director of Mac-CARE, the McMaster Community and Rural Education program.

Kanwal Shankardass

2015 Long Term Care Award

Kanwal Shankardass is the recipient of the 2015 Long Term Care Award presented by the Ontario Long Term Care Physicians for dedicated service to the association and to residents of long term care homes. Shankardass is an associate clinical professor of family medicine for McMaster's medical school, medical director of St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke and a family physician in Dundas.
