The six-storey McMaster Health Campus in downtown Hamilton is expecting its first inhabitants. Moves are being planned to fall consecutively into place beginning in March. Grand opening celebrations are planned for late spring.

The 192,000-square-foot building, directly across from Hamilton City Hall on Main Street, will provide Canada's first co-location of public health services and academic primary care. Both the City of Hamilton Public Health Services and the Department of Family Medicine of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine will be headquartered there, in space built to encourage collaboration.

The landmark building will also be home for large clinics that will be used by the McMaster Family Practice, the Maternity Centre of Hamilton, and Public Health Services. Other McMaster programs moving in include Continuing Health Sciences Education, the Program for Educational Research and Development, the Program for Faculty Development and the Foundation for Medical Practice Education.

The $84.6 million project has been funded by McMaster University, the City of Hamilton, the Province of Ontario and private donors.
