Jean Chamberlain Froese, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, received the Order of Canada at a ceremony on May 8, 2015.

Chamberlain Froese is committed to improving maternal health in developing countries. The obstetrician is an outspoken champion of system-wide approaches to reduce death associated with pregnancy or childbirth in poor countries. To that end, she founded Save the Mothers, an organization headquartered in sub-Saharan Africa that administers the world's first master's degree in public health focused on maternal mortality. Under her leadership, the program has produced graduates with the knowledge and training to effect change in their communities.
