On May 9 and 10, students in McMaster University’s Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics hosted the Canadian Society for Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CSEB) National Student Conference. Over 200 delegates from across the country attended the event.

The annual conference gives students an opportunity to present their research and for 25 of the students the opportunity to publish their conference abstracts in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

McMaster University students Kevin Quach (MSc) won first prize for poster presentations and Lawrence Mbuagbaw (PhD) won the second place prize for oral presentations.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Gordon Guyatt, Canada’s Health Researcher of the Year 2013 who talked about the history of evidence-medicine.
