First-year medical students in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine received their white coats from the school and its alumni at a ceremony at the Hamilton Convention Centre on Oct. 21, 2013.

Dr. John Kelton, Dean and Vice-President, Health Sciences and Dean of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, welcomed 206 first-year medical students of the Class of 2016 and 900 of their family and friends to the 10th annual White Coat Ceremony, and shared his experience that as a physician the opportunity to help people will be the most important and rewarding aspect of their medical careers.

"By wearing their white clerk jackets, the students acknowledge they are donning responsibility for the health of other people and a life-long commitment to develop their knowledge and skills to provide the highest level of patient care," said Kelton.
