Video on older driver safety wins contest

A video by McMaster researchers, highlighting an innovation designed to improve older driver safety, has won best video at this year’s Auto21 contest. Using cameras inside vehicles and GPS technology, researchers intend to capture how older drivers are driving in their own vehicles in their own neighbourhoods.

Brenda VrkljanThe McMaster video team is made up of Brenda Vrkljan, associate professor of occupational therapy at the School of Rehabilitation Science; Kinga Eliasz and Tara Kajaks, Department of Kinesiology PhD students; as well as Alex Crizzle, a Michael G. DeGroote post-doctoral fellow and Daniel Srouji, a kinesiology graduate.

The winning video was selected by a panel, which included communication managers from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, General Motors Canada and the Globe and Mail’s automotive reporter.
