A new executive role of assistant vice-president/chief administrative officer has been created for the administration of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), and an experienced senior administrator, Debbie Martin, has been appointed to the role effectively immediately.

"The Faculty of Health Sciences has undergone tremendous growth in the past decade; I expect this new role will ensure stability and help position the Faculty for future opportunities," said Dr. John Kelton, dean and vice-president of the Faculty of Health Sciences in making the announcement.

Martin has held several leadership roles in the Faculty during the past 20 years, most recently as the executive director of corporate services and major gifts. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce and MBA from McMaster's DeGroote School of Business, and she recently received her Certified General Accountant designation.

In the new role, Martin will have primary responsibility for the strategic direction of the Faculty in all non-academic functions. She will be a professional advisor to the dean and vice-president in the development of Faculty administrative policy, and University administrative policy where unique FHS issues apply

As a member of senior management within the University, she will have responsibility for horizontal integration of key priorities for the University within the Faculty of Health Sciences. Martin will be a member of the Faculty's Executive Council, and she will continue to have a leadership role in the development of the McMaster Health Campus, along with other projects.
