New month sees several senior appointments at FHS

Andrea Bauman, RN, PhD, associate vice-president, health sciences (global health)

Several senior positions at the Faculty of Health Sciences were filled beginning July 1. They include:

  • Andrea Bauman, RN, PhD, has been reappointed for a second term as the associate vice-president, health sciences (Global Health Office). The professor of nursing has held the position (formerly known as associate vice-president, international health) since 2006. She is the co-director the Nursing Health Services Research Unit (McMaster Site), director of the Collaborating Centre in Primary Health Care and Nursing Education and coordinator of Pan American Collaborating Centres for the World Health Organization.
  • Marcel Doré, MD, has been appointed the acting assistant dean of the Continuing Health Sciences Education Program. Doré is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine and a hospitalist at Guelph General Hospital. He is based at the Waterloo Regional Campus of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine where he is also the Faculty Development and Continuing Health Science Education Coordinator.
  • Del Harnish, PhD, has been reappointed the assistant dean, Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) Program. The professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine and the Department of Biology is the founding assistant dean of the innovative undergraduate program, which launched in 2000. Harnish has served on McMaster University's Senate and Board of Governors. He is currently a special adviser (academic affairs) to the Office of the Provost. In 1998, he was named a lifetime recipient of the 3M National Teaching Fellowship Award.
  • James Mahony, PhD, has been appointed assistant dean of the Medical Sciences Graduate Program. A professor of pathology and molecular medicine, Mahony is director of the Regional Virology and Chlamydiology Laboratory at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, as well as an investigator in the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research at McMaster. He is past recipient of the McMaster University President’s Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Supervision.
