O’Byrne receives award from College

Paul O’Byrne, chair of the Department of Medicine of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, has been honoured for excellence in his contributions to the development of the education of medical residents.

He received the James H. Graham Award by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada at its convocation ceremony for 1,200 medical specialists held Sept. 26 in Ottawa. The award for outstanding achievements is named after the secretary general of the college from 1953 through 1979.

O’Byrne is the E. J. Moran Campbell Professor of Medicine. He is world renowned for his research on asthma that is the result of allergies.
