At the end of this learning activity, the participants will be able to:
• To develop an understanding of the utility and application of bedside point of care ultrasound.
• Through hands-on instruction and practice, learn the skills of image acquisition in basic bedside ultrasound for lung and pleura, echocardiography, vascular access, abdominal free fluid, aorta and deep venous thrombosis.
• Through clinical case review, learn to diagnose conditions commonly identified at the bedside using point of care ultrasound.
• To acquire skills in real-time ultrasound-guided vascular access for central vessels (internal jugular vein, subclavian vein and femoral veins), peripheral veins, radial artery and femoral artery.
Who Should Attend:
Staff physicians, residents and medical students who use or plan to use point of care ultrasound in clinical practice.
Registration: Required. Fees are $1550 CAD for physicians, residents and other health professionals. A subsidy of $500 CAD will be offered to McMaster residents only.
