I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Harold Reiter as director of the Program for Educational Research and Development (PERD) in the Faculty of Health Sciences for a three year term effective as of November 1, 2012.

Dr. Reiter is an internationally recognized medical education researcher who brought the concept of the multiple mini interview (MMI) to the admission process in universities around the world.

Dr. Reiter received both his undergraduate MD and his post-graduate training in radiation oncology from the University of Toronto. He is a radiation oncologist at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. He obtained a masters of education from the University of Toronto in 1997.

Dr. Reiter is the recipient of a number of awards, including the AFMC John Ruedy Award for Innovation in Medical Education in 2012 and the Canadian Association of Medical Education Certificate of Merit Award in 2004.

Dr. Reiter has taken over this leadership portfolio from Dr. Geoff Norman, a world-acclaimed education researcher who has led PERD for more than 20 years.
