Promoting Research and Publications at the Indian Orthopaedic Association, Chennai, India

On December 14, 2012, Dr. Mohit Bhandari and Dr. Brad Petrisor travelled to Chennai, India to lead a series of evidence-based workshops for over 5,000 attendees of the Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) Conference. Dr. Bhandari’s keynote address urged surgeons to “execute” high quality research using the plentiful patient populations across the country. Following this meeting, and a short flight to Mumbai, both Dr. Bhandari and Dr. Petrisor led a full day course at the Sancheti Health Academy on December 17th, 2012. The course was entitled, “Getting Published: Practical Strategies for the Art of Clinical Research” and drew over 100 attendees. The highly interactive course led to important advances for publication. This work furthers MacOrtho’s philosophy of academic philanthropy and by sharing our experiences, we were able to learn about the global community. Moreso, we are create lasting collaborations with the emerging powerhouse’s in clinical research.
